QUICK UPDATE

I read a ton of newsletters.

Mostly to learn and get new ideas for mine.

But, honestly, I’ve been struggling with the direction in which I wanted to take my newsletter.

That was until last week - when I had a lightbulb moment.

I was reading Jen Allen-Knuth’s newsletter when it happened. (subscribe here)

Each week she breaks down a cold email before/after rewrite.

The before examples are submitted by her subscribers.

And that’s when it hit me.

What if I did something similar?

But instead of cold email rewrites, I’d help sellers take their boring slides and turn them into visual Whiteboard presentations.

I’ll do all the heavy lifting.

And you have permission to steal, copy, or make it your own.

Here’s how I envisioned it working:

  1. Sellers submit 1-3 slides with a few speaker notes. (submit here)

  2. I’ll record an example of a whiteboard version for you.

  3. I’ll share the ex. breakdown in the weekly newsletter.

  4. I’ll give you a heads-up before the newsletter goes out.

Building this skill has helped me:

  • Sell millions in software

  • Win rep of the year 3 different places

  • Get to attend 12 Presidents Club trips

  • Be promoted several times over my career

If you’re still not convinced - here are my Top 10 Reasons (backed by research) why every seller should learn to whiteboard.

But what if you have bad handwriting or can’t draw?

It doesn’t matter.

Learning to whiteboard is a communication skill, not an artistic skill.

WHITEBOARD > DEATH BY PPT

This first example is actually from my company, Bullhorn.

We’re working on certifying the team on new messaging, so I thought it was a good place to start.

Here are the 3 slides I took from the deck:

And here’s the Whiteboard (lightboard) version:
