Color Psychology.

Believe it or not, colors can evoke emotions, affect your mood, raise or lower your blood pressure, and even change modes of thinking.

The problem is that this is a foreign concept to most sellers and they have no clue how to harness its power.

So let’s change that and give you an idea or two that you can implement.

Basic Color Wheel

First, let’s go over a few basic colors and the feelings and moods they’re often associated with.

Red 

Association: love, passion, strength

Mood: intensity, anger, excitement

Green 

Association: growth, health, safety

Mood: calm, refreshed

Orange 

Association: enthusiasm, creativity, success

Mood: warmth, excitement

Black 

Association: power, mystery, elegance, evil, mourning

Mood: confident, stable, mysterious

Yellow 

Association: energy, happiness, warming

Mood: joy

Blue 

Association: wisdom, trust, stability

Mood: calming, relaxing

Now that you understand a few basics, start paying attention to the colors used in ads, tv commercials, business signs, and logos.

You’ll start to see the power of color at work.

My Favorite Way To Use It

My favorite way is to combine color psychology with a whiteboard session.

Whether remote with an iPad or on-site at a whiteboard or flipchart.

Here are some tips:

Use a black marker for:

  • Main themes

  • Structure or layout

Use a red marker for:

  • Manual processes/bottlenecks

  • Areas of risk/threats

  • Challenges

Use a blue marker for:

  • Future state vision

  • Solution ideas

Use a green marker for:

  • Goals

  • Growth

  • Automated processes

By mixing the visual component of whiteboarding and the power of color psychology - you can amplify the effectiveness of your meetings.

Here’s an example:

Help buyers visualize their “problems” with pictures

Evoke emotion and feelings with color.
